Menyimak diskusi pada sebuah thread di WHT, berikut komentar dari salah seorang anggota forum;
The very oldest rfcs say you should have your nameservers in different places, both netwise and geographically, so that no one event will bring them all down.
Some people say this isn’t important because if your dns is down the servers probably are too, but this isn’t completely true. The exception is email.
If your server or network goes missing temporarily, taking all your nameservers with it, then anyone who tries to send mail to one of your customers will get an immediate and confusing failure message.
Then they phone the person they are trying to email and that person phones you.
If however your server disappears momentarily, but you still have a functioning nameserver in another location, the email will be accepted from the sender and queued on their outbound mailserver until the message can be delivered (or until the retry time-out expires).
In my opinion that’s a better thing to have happen. You don’t want people phoning you every time there is a net burp or you have to reboot your server.
So despite what practically every cpanel “host” says, there is benefit to having nameservers in different places.

New Code for WP MU Google Analytics Plugin

This is the revision for this nice plugin on developed by someone speaking french I totally don’t understand the readme :lol:.
The plugin make possible for us to insert the Google Analytics Tracking Code dynamically inside multi blog Wordpress enabled site (WPMU). Each subdomain data (blog) can be viewed under different website profile in GA with different tracking code.
This is the revision code (only the rafiq_ga.php)
This is the whole plugin,
I haven’t tried them yet, just inserting new code and make it compatible with Google Analytics Tracking Code Migration Guide. Use it at your own risk, and please do advise or revise it directly.

Entah bagaimana ceritanya, sukurnya ke arah yang (mungkin) kita inginkan bersama, pindahan server ke local content baik melalui IIX maupun openIXP sepertinya lagi jadi trend :). Situs-situs besar dengan mayoritas pengunjungnya adalah pengguna internet Indonesia dan contentnya merupakan content Indonesia perlahan tapi pasti memulangkan Servernya ke Indonesia.
Dua hari yang lalu situs komunitas indoforum.org pulang ke Internet Indonesia melalui peering IIX dan openIXP, semoga saja terus terjadi fenomena ini, baik Server, hostingan anda dan mungkin VPS anda.

Berita basi sih, tapi belum komentar aja :). Situs komunitas berformat forum yang saat ini terbesar di Indonesia pindah rumah ke jaringan local content melalui openIXP. Lumayan penghematan bandwidth :).

Pelaku Migrasi ke Nginx
Dalam waktu singkat nginx (dibaca engine-x) menjadi semakin populer, bukan data dari mana-mana, cuma pengalaman pribadi. Paling tidak saya melakukan migrasi beberapa situs ke nginx untuk beberapa alasan;
- Percobaan / eksperimen
- Belajar dan Ingin tahu, terutama membiasakan diri dengan apa yang bisa dan apa yang tidak bisa dilakukan oleh nginx
- Mengakalin resource terbatas (misalnya wpmu di VPS Entry Magnet yang hanya punya 128 MB RAM), sebenarnya sangat mungkin untuk bisa dilakukan dengan misalnya melakukan tweaking apache, tapi berhubung sekaligus ada kesempatan experiment jadinya opsi tersebut saya lupakan
